Aaron Garcia was already wanted by Yonkers Police when officers in Chelsea apprehended a man on Tuesday night, matching the description of a suspect who had just smashed up car windows, as well as a bar window, with a hammer, reported the New York Daily News.

Investigators were then able to identify Garcia from the hatchet incident, in which he wore a face mask, from other video footage where he is seen without a mask.

Garcia reportedly raised the hammer towards a 54-year-old man that accidentally bumped into him, but he grunted before running off, according to the Daily News.

The same can’t be said for Miguel Solorzano, who did not escape Garcia’s wrath â€" all caught on surveillance video.

The footage, obtained by the paper, shows the suspect casually walking into the Chase Bank location, hatchet in hand, where the ATMs are located. He then lunged at Solorzano, who hadn’t noticed his attacker until he made contact.

Solorzano is seen trying to defend himself, holding his backpack in front of him, but was overpowered by Garcia, who repeatedly hacked at the man’s head and leg.

Garcia then stomped over to the ATMs, smashed each of the screens, before dropping the hatchet and strolling away.

Solorzano was taken to hospital and is still recovering.

Garcia was taken to hospital for psychiatric evaluation, said cops, adding that the suspect had a previous warrant out for his arrest over multiple stalking and domestic incidents in 2020 and earlier this year.

Criminal charges are pending.
