Spectacular flares and hair for Bolton outings in the 70s
Pubs, clubs and even workplaces would arrange an annual trip and it would become one of the highlights of the year.
Blackpool and the coast was a popular destination but occasionally youâd get something far more exotic and passports would be needed.
Wherever you were headed it was an excuse to get dressed up for the occasion. And with this being the Seventies the fashions were occasionally out there with flares, big hair and mini skirts all on trend.
These three photos from the archive show apprentices from Bolton Painting contractors in Horwich ready to head off to Blackpoolâs Bier Keller in 1975; the girls of the Nab Gate, Harwood in their finery ready to depart in 1972 and regulars from the Tanners Arms, Lever Street, Bolton, preparing to head off to Benidorm in 1979
