Today we launch The Bolton News Education Awards 2021
AFTER an incredibly tough time for schools, colleges and universities The Bolton News Education Awards are back.
Last year, the Covid pandemic meant many events had to be postponed â" but now we believe we must do everything we can to all thatâs good in the borough â" and that means our brilliant teachers, students and everyone else involved in education in Bolton.
The awards aim to seek out the best pupils, schools, teachers and other education staff and, at the same time, highlight innovation and best practice right across the area.
These will be our sixth education awards and they are set to be extra special because of the challenges of coronavirus over the last 18 months .
Children and teachers, support staff and students, headteachers and lecturers will be celebrated at a special virtual awards event - hosted by TV's Elaine Willcox - to honour the difference they make in our town.
These awards would not be possible without our headline sponsor Bolton Council and category sponsors Toughsheet, Scan Computers, Anthony Axfords, Surveyroof, Unison and Ye Olde Pasty Shop.
Entries are invited from teachers, parents, governors, pupils and anyone with knowledge of a particular school or education establishment.
Readers have until October 1 to nominate individuals or schools for each of the categories below. A panel of judges will then select finalists for each category.
After we have selected the winners there will be a special virtual awards ceremony on November 17 hosted by Granada TV star Elaine Willcox.
Entries are invited from teachers, parents, governors, pupils and anyone with knowledge of a particular school and nomination forms can be downloaded at https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/educationawards/
Individuals or institutions can enter more than one category but this should be made clear on the entry form.
